Local Neighborhoods to Explore

These are neighborhoods close to downtown that you could walk around, grab a bite to eat (or drink), and explore how Charlotteans live:


SOUTH END

The historic South End district, a retro, trendy blend that attracts hipsters, professionals and families to one of Charlotte’s top destination neighborhoods.The old brick mills and factories have been repurposed into enough bars, clubs and restaurants to keep you busy throughout the year. A devoted craft brew scene includes several breweries (Triple C Brewery, Lenny Boy Brewery and Olde Mecklenburg Brewery) and many other pubs and taverns. Pub crawls and brew tours are popular events and nightspots are hopping every night of the week. Numerous art galleries and boutiques feature the work of local artists - and easy to get to on the LYNX Blue Line.


DILWORTH

Dilworth is a charming neighborhood located just south of Uptown Charlotte. This historic neighborhood is known for its beautiful homes, tree-lined streets, and walkability. Dilworth is home to a variety of restaurants, shops, and entertainment options, including the popular Freedom Park. This park features walking trails, playgrounds, and even a small lake.


UPTOWN

Uptown Charlotte is the heart of the city and is home to many of Charlotte's most iconic attractions. This area is known for its skyscrapers, museums, and cultural institutions, and is one of the most walkable neighborhoods in the city. Uptown is home to many pedestrian-friendly streets, including Tryon Street, which is lined with shops, restaurants, and entertainment venues.


NODA

Highly recommend visiting for brunch/lunch (Cabo Fish Taco is always a favorite). NoDa, which stands for North Davidson, is a neighborhood located just north of Uptown Charlotte. This area is known for its vibrant arts scene and is home to many galleries, studios, and live music venues. NoDa is also home to many restaurants, bars, and shops, making it a great place to explore on foot.

DARLING GRENADINE

A love letter to New York City, DARLING GRENADINE, with book, music, and lyrics by Daniel Zaitchik, tells the story of a young songwriter falling in love with a charming chorus girl. However, not all stories have a Cinderella ending. With a bittersweet and moving score, this modern-day love story takes unexpected twists and turns as we learn more about Harry (the composer) and his precarious relationship with his girlfriend (Louise). Alongside Harry’s journey is his brother (Paul) and his Labrador Retriever (also named Paul).
